Trieste, Italy 2009

With a couple of days until we needed to go home Barb decided we needed to see Trieste. So, we packed up the car, pointed our noses West, and hit the autostrada. As you can see, the weather was not cooperating for these last two days but, suprisingly, it matched the city well. Trieste is an interesting place and has many interesting things to see but, on a whole, it's a miss-matched hodgepodge of cultures. It used to be Austria's sea port, Slovenia and Croatia (Yugoslavia) are close neighbors and, historically, it has been an important seaport for eons. All these different cultures have come together to create the Trieste of today.
