Bologna, Italy

After Venice we took a train to Bologna. The city kept boasting about it's towers (two of which are still standing) but to us it was St. Luke's overlooking the city and surrounding countryside and the fact that almost every street was lined with arched arcades. The arcades came about by royal decree some centuries ago but the 666 covered arches (4.5 kilometers) leading up to St. Luke's were sponsored by different individuals and families. We walked DOWN through those arches much to the objections of my aching feet.
